Instead of sending them off to a landfill, use kitchen scraps to enrich your garden! Whether your goal is to live “greener,” save money, grow gorgeous blooms and healthy fruits and veggies, or all of the above, composting is a great way to go. Best of all, it’s easy to get started!

Why start a compost pile?
Backyard composting is the intentional and managed decomposition of organic materials. Creating these materials is good for the health of your garden and the environment. Managing your home’s indoor and outdoor waste can be better controlled with a simple compost pile.
Compost greatly benefits potted plants and garden beds by releasing good nutrients at a slow, steady pace with an added benefit of better soil structure. If you have troubled soil at your house (for example, soil over-rich in clay or sand) adding compost will improve its drainage and growth.
