Instead of using disposable chopsticks at restaurants, we bring our own portable/reusable ones (I keep at least 2 pairs in my purse)! I also bring my own hand towel to work, so I wouldn’t use paper towels in the kitchen and bathroom.

I’ve been doing the “Green” program before it became a must for everyone. I do recyled by plastic bags if I don’t bring my reusable bag. I use the plastic bags for my cats as a litter liner. I made compost out of all my vegetables and other organic waste materials. For cleaning our bathroom and kitchen floor tiles I use vinegar and for clothes, especially the white and I also use baking soda. Even cleaning my teeth I use baking soda too. There are so many little ways where you can do the “Green” program in your home and your surroundings. Recylcing, composting and minimizing the use of electricity and gas. Putting errands if possible in trip to save gas and stop polluting the environment. We can think of so many little things to save mother earth, if we are conscientious enough. All of us can do that. We don’t need to be in a popular program to do that, just in our day to day life.

I have just started a business cleaning homes and businesses and I am going to use no chemical cleaners. I will only be using all natural cleaners and micro cleaner cloths and when my customers see how they work better than the chemical cleaners then maybe they will also do the same.

I work at a Montessori School where we believe teaching our children, and their parents through them, that helping our planet is what will make a difference. We started a RRR Program in 2007-2008 with Recycling: by classifying trash and PET bottles, Reusing paper and rain water, and Reducing paper supplies and energy bills.
Our local University awarded us with the title of Green School for carriying out these RRR activities and helping our environment by planting trees and making our own composte soil.
Today is “Earth Day” and we are watching motivational videos, bringing posters to school and soon the best ones will be uploaded on our internet webpage for everyone to admire.
Our graduating generation, as well as our whole school family announces: “We are proud to be GREEN!”

We use empty cereal boxes to collect, then recycle our daily mail such as the envelopes, advertising, any small piece of papers. Very
transportable and easy to camoflouge until full.

I have celebrated earth day since its beginning as it is also my birthday. The philosophy matches mine so I have always looked at it as a special tribute. I am a believer that we are on this earth as stewards and it our job to take care of the land, the animals and the plants including trees. If we do that we will also be taking care of the water and the air.
I have farmed in the past and had space for anyone who wanted to farm with me. Although I am on smaller property, I still share as much as I have.

I’ve switched from using plastic flatware in our lunch bags to using the real thing. It not only saves the earth – it saves money, too! Definitely worth the minimal extra washing.

We are using cloth napkins. We compost, and grow most of our vegetables (during the warmer months). We are switching our lightbulbs to CFLs as they go out. We use canvas bags for groceries. Our weekly garbage bin is less and less full, while our recyble bin is overflowing. More importantly, we are teaching our children to take care of the earth. Reduce, reuse, recycle!
